After a fairly long break I am back with a Ducati. Started off 20 years ago with a 600SS moved on to a 888 and now I have just bought a 1991 851 Strada. It's been in storage for at least the last 10 years so I guess I have a bit of re-commissioning to do before I even start it. First job are new belts, oil and filter, air filter and a coolant change. That should allow me to at least get it running. Then I intend a strip down of the brakes and change clutch and brake fluid. I'd welcome any other suggestions as what else may need doling. The bike itself is very clean and even with all of the panels removed looks to be in good condition. I've put dual seat back on as it came with a mono but I need to source a seat lock as that appears to be missing. byway plenty to be getting on with over the winter with the aim of using it properly next year.
new Fork oil, tyres, battery. spark plugs. I'd squirt some oil down the bores and turn over by hand at 1st. prime the new oil filter too before fitting. Before starting I'd even remove the plugs and whizz it over on the starter motor until the oil warning pressure light went off. I'm sure others will chime in with their thoughts.
