New Carbon Helmet Imperfection

  1. Hi Guys just purchased a new Carbon helmet (Shark Aeron GP) and when I got home I noticed an imperfection in the carbon on one side just back from my temple. Its a slightly curved ripple under the surface a bit like a thin worm or a paint run, its around 40 mm long 3-4mm wide and I would say protrudes no more than 1mm, its hard to see without catching it just right in some light its smooth but you can feel it when gently running your fingers over it, theres no colour change or any marks cracks or scratches etc. Its a matt finish carbon so no deep clear coat so I don't think its a run.
I intend to return it for a refund as it was the last one they had in my size as i'm concerned it could compromise the structural integrity in a crash, has anyone come across this before?

  2. Nature of the beast imho, gawd what was my most expensive carbon bell pro star £1200 I think. They always have oddities, I'd live with it.

  3. I’ve had 3 X Lite Carbon lids, 1 Matt, two gloss. No flaws on any of them.

  4. Thanks, looking at it this morning in better light I actually think its a run/slump in the matt clear coat that must have been missed or ignored in production. Its hard to spot without looking for it, once you know its there though you can see it at certain angles and feel it..
