I want to change the chain and sprockets on the 999 and would like to go from 36 to a 38 rear (I'd prefer steel but hard anodized is OK) and replace the front with standard 15t. It seems to be a bit difficult to find quality/branded rear sprockets that are not the standard sizes . Any one know a good place to get decent quality, but non standard size rear sprockets or should I just ask Moto Rapido ?
I got some good kit from Sportsbikeshop just short ago, swapped to the smaller front sprocket to https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_cat/466
Careful as when I switched to a 180/55 with 15/38 I ran out of space on tyre/SA on standard chain length.
IIRC I'm currently on 14/37 with a 180/55 with standard length chain but I'm quite drunk so notched100%.
I alway deal with AR racing. Really helpful and have been know to do a deal. Also they're a small business so worth supporting.
Thanks all, looks like it will be AR or B&C for the anodized alloy Renthal rear sprocket, although AR do list the 38 tooth one on their site, B&C don't. Will probably go for an OEM 15F as they are not that expensive CR, the plan is to fit the sprockets, refit the wheel, then see if I need to leave a couple of extra links in using the old chain as a rough guide. I will be buying a 100 link chain and may cut down to 98 rather than standard 96. I would prefer to keep the wheel base close to where it is just now.
Gearingcommander.com will help. Trouble is, the 180/55 is a higher profile and it doesn't take that into account. If you are on a 190/50 should be fine. When I had 15/38 it was right at the front of the adjusters.
CR, I am not convinced the 190/50 'standard' rear tyre size is right for the wheel so have the 180/55 standard 749 size rear fitted
