Hi, It's time for a new chain and sprockets, my understanding of the common gearing ratios are : Front Rear 1) 15...........40............ 2.667 (stock gearing) 2) 14...........40............ 2.857 7% change 3) 15...........42............ 2.800 5% change 4) 15...........43............ 2.867 7% change I would like to run a 15 front and a 43 rear with a 530 chain, probably 110 links (?) It looks like the 43 rear sprocket might be hard to get unless I go for a quick change set-up. Has anybody run this set up or any views please ? Any thoughts on best place to buy chain & sprockets? Cheers !
I think the Diavel runs a 43 rear so that might fit, or supersprox do one in either 42 or 43. Supersprox | - Ducati - Road Bikes - 1101-1300 ccm - 1200 Multistrada, S Sport, S Touring [2010-2015]
I have an almost new 42 tooth black supersprox rear sprocket which has done less than 700 miles, it was fitted with a new chain but I have gone back to stock gearing. The black anodise hasn't even worn off the teeth yet! £65 posted if you are interested.
RMRH, I am currently running your option 2) 14...........40............ 2.857 7% change. I find it great, but am planning on going to the 15 / 43 set up when I get new chain etc. Keen to see how you get on.
Got my bike back last night... and very happy with the new setup! 15/43 feels very similar too 14/40 - lively ! I used an OEM Diavel 43T rear sprocket and a top quality 525 chain (standard is 530 I believe) Quality is more important than size... The old 14 sprocket was totally worn out (as was the chain) but the rear sprocket was still ok. Hopefully the new setup will wear more evenly
