New Ducati Owner

Discussion in 'Streetfighter' started by tolsworth, Mar 11, 2013.

  1. Hi All. Just joined the forum after picking up my new Streetfighter 1098 at the weekend. Have dreamed of owning this bike for ages!

Have already ordered an SC Project single exhaust for her, and some R&G aero crash protectors.

So what else do I need? What're the best tail tidies? Any thoughts on Paddock Stands? Just want something suitable for lubing the chain etc - something relatively inexpensive would be great.

Look forward to catching up with you all on here at some point...

  2. Evotech tail tidy is pretty good. I have the Ducati paddock stand, haven't seen others - I'm sure Ducati is just a rebadged anyway - mine was part of the overall bundle when I bought my SF.

Plenty of other mods you will be tempted by.

  3. Hi & welcome tolsworth,

I went for the DP tail tidy, and also have the Ducati paddock stands. I'm pleased with the effect of the DP tail tidy - esp how well it works with the DP LED indicators

    +1

The list is pretty extensive - depends on budget and priorities I guess. Perhaps see you at a meet some time... Nice choice of ride btw :upyeah:, but I am kind of bias.

  4. Can't help with the info but I can give you a warm welcome to the forum

  5. Welcome.

  6. Welcome.
The mods list is extensive to say the least.!!!!!!!!!!

  7. Found a new toy have we?

  8. Welcome

    I'm seeing rainbows now

Must be the grater meds kicking in

    Nice ride man

  9. Yes, it is my birthday you know.!!!!!!

  10. Thanks for the welcome guys. Well, I went for the R&G tail tidy as have found them pretty good on previous bikes... but am so unimpressed! A real lack of effort gone into the design. Firstly, absolutely nowhere near enough room for all the wiring. Secondly, it's too tight to the tail lights - it actually presses up on the fairing so that the rear seat unit one click in anymore. Easily fixed by adding some rubber washers to the tail tidy, but why should I have to? Wish I'd listened to you guys and gone for the DP one...

  11. 'tis a shame the R&G tail-tidy wasn't as you expected. Sadly, we all live 'n learn... More importantly, how are you finding the 'Fighter? Secondly, have you started making a 'wish-list', or endulged in any essentials yet...

  12. Radiator guards are a practical and possibly money saving mod.

  13. apart from my lower rad guard from R&G has already turned silver where shit hits it - I guess its doing its job

I bought a tail tidy from the US but one that does away with the indicators -

  14. +1
My R&G rad guard's also tarnished from wear&tear - but hey, cheaper than a replacement rad...

  15. I also have the R&G rad guards and the crap that it stops is unreal. Certainly worth the money.

  16. Haven't started a mod list yet. Have now fitted the SC Project exhaust - it sounds sweet! Tail tidy is on, and R&G crash bungs. Not sure what's next, although sounds like you all recommend rad guards. Any brands I should look out for? Want to steer clear of R&G if I can.

No idea how the bike feels as yet, it's been snow & ice for weeks here now! Hopefully April will be better...

  17. I have the evotech performance rad guards and not had any issues with chipping off the black or anything like that - I'd recommend them and they either protect from stone and debris damage or hide it - either way they are better than exposed rads.

  18. Me also, plus evotech tail tidy.Good quality parts.

  19. I'd also say a decent mod if you only ever ride solo is to lose the rear seat for the replacement DP part - looks a lot better and I've replaced the pillion pegs with the evotech exhaust hanger and that really opens up the back of the bike.
