New Member Intro & Just Purchased 899

  1. Hi All

Saying hello to the Ducati forum & any 899 owners,

I have just purchased a Ducati 899 as my second bike to use on the road & the odd UK track day , my main bike is a BMW S1000RR sport 23 model which will now lives in Almeria & is now used solely for Euro track day use now.

Recently got back from a double header track event with Redline at Jerez & Portimao with the BMW & decided to buy the 899 as a road & odd trackday bike in the UK, as 207 horses IMO is too much for the UK roads now, too many cameras , cars , dick heads on the road not looking where they are going (i see sooo many people looking at mobile phones whilst driving its not funny anymore FFS etc

I am in my mid 50s now & I've been riding superbikes for over 25 years now & the last Ducati i owned was an 998 (how things have changed in the Ducati world).

The 899 i have bought will be with me 1st November 23 & has done less than 10k miles is in red & in mint condition and has been somebodys garage queen so not had a hard life at all).

Here is a rundown of the items i have bought for the 899 which will get fitted this week,

Please feel free to offer any 899 advice & i am also interested in best places for Ducati performance accessories as i want to buy a set of genuine Ducati folding levers.

    Ducati Riders comfort/raised seat £204

Ducati throttle spacer & heat shield Kit.

I will also be buying & fitting the Bike Sports development Blip Box , I would be interested in any 899 owners experiences with this product.

Also looking closely at buying a new rear shock (if anyone has an Ohlins TTX that would fit the 899 that they would like to sell please PM me)

Last thing i would like to know is what is the maximum rear tyre size that works on a 899, IE is it possible to fit a larger size than OEM spec , just curious more than anything else,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

will post a pic when it arrives,

    cheers all & safe riding

  4. Welcome mate

  5. The TC isn’t programmable if I remember correctly so changing rear tyre size may upset it. I researched this when fitting the 1199 rear swingarm on my 899. Have a 190/55 on there now and it’s fine. But not ridden it on track in anger.

  6. Welcome, enjoy the bike :upyeah:

  8. i swapped the pirellis for michelins, they were 10mm bigger, no issues for me

  11. Great choice, I’ve got a 899 also. The mods you suggest are good ones. A good budget option for the shock is to get MCT to revalve and service the shock, makes a huge difference on the road but for loads of track time a Ohlins will be better.
The best budget Ohlins option will be to buy a 1299s Ohlins shock and get it serviced and converted to manual adjusters (again MCT do this)

  16. i ride all winter no problem, not to keen if its around zero, but anything over 7 or 8 degrees and dry is fine, cant bare the thought of it not moving for 4 or 5 months

got rid of the pirellis for a Michelin r6
