New Multistrada Owner

  1. Hi folks,

New user, just joined after spotting posts on Google from this site.

Picking up a 2010 Multistrada 1200S today, despite passing its MOT last week at the last minute the seller has noticed a fork leak so I have negotiated parts and a discount. There is “a little seepage” on a tissue when wiped.

How bad a job is the fork seals for somebody competent, special tools, pitfalls etc?

Regardless I’m still giddy to have a new toy, like a kid at Christmas!

  4. Welcome.
It’s not difficult once the forks are off the bike, you’ll need a fork seal driver of the correct diameter, a couple of open ended spanners, a spring compressor comes in handy and of course new oil seals, dust seals and whilst the fork legs are apart it always worth replacing the bushes IMO.
The dimensions of those tools will vary depending whether your forks are Marzocchi or Ohlins. There are plenty of vids on YT but Delboy’s Garage is about as good as any.

  6. Welcome and hope you get the bike sorted and enjoy many happy miles on it.

  7. Welcome zerocool, the big money is doing the desmo service if you use a dealership. Whats the mileage & service history of this beast?

  8. Welcome and enjoy.

  9. Welcome to the forum. Might be worth running a fork seal cleaner around the fork before stripping it down. I've heard of people using cut pieces of 35mm film/negative to do this.
