  1. Good buzz... Top tip... Remember where you heard it first...

Apparently ( so I am lead to believe, by a reliable source ) the two people unlucky enough to be selected as co-presenters are...

    Sabine Schmidt

    David Coulthard

  2. One of the production staff ( specially brought in by the Ginger Freak ) has indeed already quit...
Not looking good so far is it ?

  3. I'd heard it was going to be Chris Harris too, and that DC had turned it down.
Personally, I don't think having Sabine Schmidt would be great, and Chris Harris, although good for people that know about cars, isn't ideal anyway
I suspect most famous people that have been offered it see it as a sinking ship, so don't want to be associated with its failure

  4. Yeh, that was in the sun newspaper about two weeks ago if I remember correctly...... But we can keep that quiet and pretend you spilt the beans :)

To be honest I'm not remotely interested in the 'new top gear' though because it's simply going to be another 5th Gear.

They're having a load of problems in production what with more staff leaving, prospective presenters turning it down and then add the fact Chris Evans apparently really struggles driving and talking calmly to the camera in the passenger seat, something that's not a natural thing to do.

I like Sabine as I've met her two or three times in person and her fella bought me and a mate a few drinks (they're close friends with the hotel owners we stay with near the nordschleife)

But those three together don't really shine the beacon of charisma

Whether people like it or not, Top Gear was popular due to Clarkson, Hammond and May messing about and enjoying themselves like a bunch of mates. Throw in supercharged exotic cars and hey presto it's a winning formula.

I'm far more interested in the next show they are in, it'll be more top gear but on the steroid cash injection of Amazon.

  5. So what's the set-up with this Amazon firestick thingy to watch the real thing? How does that work? Don't do tech and I watch TV on Freeview..

  6. Get a fire stick, side load Kodi and cancel any other subscriptions as its all available with a five finger discount as of then....

  8. What the hell does that mean? Am I assuming you typed this whilst wearing your baseball cap backwards and your jeans halfway down your arse or am I really getting far too old?

  10. Wouldn't you still need a paid subscription to Amazon when using Kodi, it's basically a media player that can be pointed to Amazon.

  11. I cannot imagine Sabine Schmidt will join, too loyal to JC, and possible will not want to lose the chance to be used in his new show.

  12. Let me translate for you all.

Kodi (aka xbmc) is a free app / bit of software that connects media streams from the web.

Ultimately 'IF' pointed in the right direction (at the right sources) you can in essence pretty much watch anything you want, whether live or after the event as it'll be on a server somewhere being streamed.

Sometimes live content isn't brilliant quality (low bitrate) but in most instances it's more than acceptable, after the event stuff is pretty much whatever quality you want, SD (standard definition) if your broadband isn't that fast, but if it's ok you can happily stream HD and right through to some 4k stuff.

When I say after the event I mean even normal TV episodes of pretty much anything worth its salt are very quickly available to stream after the first TV showing. So it's almost like having an infinite library of box sets available

A simple android box is a better solution than a fire stick as at least that can connect via ethernet cable, a fire stick will only ever be wifi

Anyway, it doesn't matter whether you bother with Kodi, an android box or not.

To watch the new top gear you can simply buy a £30 amazon fire stick from currys or similar , plug it in the hdmi slot of your TV and connect it to your wifi.

It'll then connect to Amazon TV and other catch services such as BBC etc

There you can watch the new 'proper top gear' when they decide to launch it

  13. But I think she's involved in the German top gear, which is under licence from the BBC as Clarkson sold his rights to that ages ago

  14. Hardly chap, never owned a baseball cap and unlikely that'll change.
Perhaps not that your getting old, but simply don't know something, we can't know it all - the art is to never stop learning?

Buy a stick, post it to me and I'll return it done for you?

By the way, jeans halfway down your arse supposedly signals to other inmates a certain message.
Knowing that has brought me numerous smiles when I've seen people sport that look.

  15. Does anyone like Chris Evans? Comes across as quite self obsessed.

  16. He's pretty funny at times, and a complete twonk at others. It'll be interesting to see how he gets on with the TG series, as I think, as I mentioned above, it's a sinking ship and more people tuned in to enjoy the adventures and banter between the previous three, than they did for it being a 'car show'
I just can't see the same funny relationship and fucking about with Chris Evans, The chick that looks like a mans head on a girls body and Chris Harris
I wonder if you get betting odds on it being canned after one series ?

  17. Being told that a lambo or zonda has got 5000 horse power isn't entertainment. Id like the TG programme to continue, but I won't be watching it until the presenter is changed. I just can't listen to him.
I'm sure people will watch it and will continue to be successful, but will no doubt have a change in audience.

  18. I'll guess we'll have to wait and see
Any idea when it's due to start airing ?

  19. :Wideyed:
I caught "Currys" and "broadband isn't that fast". And mine isn't..
