so just had some angel gt's fitted and then took it for a leisurely ride over cat n fiddle and the new tyres felt amazing over the very worn and 50p like scorpions in the bends it just leant in lovely HOWEVER half way round orange warning light in top left corner of screen lit up so pulled over and switched it off and googled it and said its a generic warning fault, restarted bike and was still on so carried on riding, a few mins more I changed rider mode to urban and either it was coincidence it seem to go off and never came back on. I do have this ever so slight stutter around 2-3k revs on the engine but its never set this light off before. could it possibly be new tyres and the bike recalibrating itself as front was almost bald? any ideas guys and if it needs reading, whats the cheapest code reader I could get for the bike to read it?
thanks bud, having a good google last nightie getting the thinking its basically anything around the bike from suspension to brake sensors to even heated grips but not the engine so hopefully thats all spot on other then the slight stutter im going to throw bits at soon!! never been on before so hopefully ghost in the machine like you say!
Yes, possibly ABS. Did you do a speed recalibration via the dash menu? Needs doing every now and again, especially if you've changed tyres. Worth looking at the front wheel speed sensor and the shimming/gap between it and the phonic wheel. Hopefully your tyre fitter knew what he was doing and reused the shims on reassembly. The sensor needs to be removed when changing the front tyre. There's a sensor at the rear too but that remains in situ. If a member nearby has an OBDStar unit, or similar, then for a beer token or two you could get the fault codes read and cleared. I have one but you being in Manchester and me in Cheltenham we're too far away. Pricey to buy but a useful bit of kit if you're into Ducati ownership in the longer term. Regarding your engine stutter; likely culprit is the front cylinder HT leads. These break down over time, the combination of heat and exposure to spray off of the front wheel is a significant contributing factor here. Do the symptoms get worse when, or after, riding in the wet? If so I'd say that this is 80-90% probably the cause.
hi bud thanks for the lengthy reply, he didnt remove the front sensor watching him all he did was push calibers back and removed them and then reassembly torquing everything up again. with the stutter, I havent ridden it in wet but previous owner probably has I think but I do find I feel it more as the engine gets warmer but generally its just consistent stutter at low causing speeds always around 2-4k revs, if im going at abit more pace I don't feel it.
Might not be the case, but i did a ktm with the TC light on which turned out to be an o2 sensor. Check your historical fault codes and see if anything pings up.
update, so cleaning it early today and running it I noticed the brake light stuck on. I recently took the short levers off and fitted some non gen standard looking long levers and looks like the tab isn't quite pressing on the switch enough unless I flick the lever off. will bend the tab in more but hopefully bike has seen brake switch stuck on and thrown a wobbler like it did! few rides and we'll see!
MelcoDiag is free although you may want to throw a few € in JPs direction just out of courtesy. The Interface cable you need can be bought from Lonelec. The fact your brake light was permanently on won’t be the cause of the generic error light sadly.
3 good rides this week and still not been on since, bike is riding so bloody nice with these new tyres on, feel like a Motogp reader tipping it in and holding a nice line through corners lol. these bikes are so amazing and thats me coming off fire blades and r1's, theyre much more comfier and never lacking grunt, I even treated it to an evotech tail tidy this week, bit of a pain to fit with rounded allen bolts but again evotech don't half push out some quality products, if you fitted one you'll know what I mean when I say I love the little groove the cable ties sit in on the metal work, thats detail!!
