Hi all, I don't yet own a duc but the balls rolling. I have been looking through the forum and found some interesting information already. But as I should hopefully be putting a deposit on a 2008 848 tomorrow I wouldn't be able to find ALL the important little niggles that I would need to look out for I'm sure. Basically I have found a 2008 848 with 9000 on the clock in pristine condition I have already been to see it once, I used to ride a r6 then a zx636 so the 848 is a totally new thing for me. What should I look for? And what should I be weary of? I also used to do all the servicing on my previous bikes myself, how easy is it on an 848? Or would it be easier to just take it to a garage to do? The final thing for now (probably a very stupid question) what's the mini reservoir for by the clutch lever? Thanks a lot jai
Depends on your mechanical skill, if you are confident at changing belts then yes the rest is easy. Condition is better than milage.
Thanks! My mechanical skills, well I didn't even know they had belts so that's that out the picture. Good thing my riding ability is better than my mechanical knowledge lol. How often do the belts need replacing is it a regular expensive thing? It has recently been serviced so hopefully it's something that I don't need to worry about for a year or so.
Welcome, best bike out there. Oil change home jobbie, belts dealer jobbie avery 24 months. Otherwise stick fuel in it and ride it! Few things under recall but if its got full service history be amazed if not done
Um, maybe you should 'step away from the spanners' if you are asking questions about clutch reservoirs and not knowing of the belts?
