I try not to ride at night these days - hit a badger with my car and wouldn't to repeat the experience on a bike. Those things are solid and just lumber into the road regardless...
After coping with kangaroos leaping into the middle of the road right in front of cars and bikes (ABS FTW), and hearing tales of what wombats do to cars*, it's kinda hard to take badgers as seriously as I'm sure they deserve. Great to hear these things are as good at night as I expect, though. *Never actually saw a wombat on the road myself, and never heard about bikes hitting them. No idea why.
I'm on the wrong side of the channel to hit those, but I'll bear it in mind when I do head up London way
Apologies for continued off topic OP , but had a very near miss just a few days ago with something large and very ginger. Was pitch black around 2 AM deep in the Surrey countryside. What ever it was ran at me from the side of the road and then changed its mind luckily for both of us as ' not going slowly'.
