1199 Not Too Sure What To Do

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Russell, Jun 23, 2014.

  1. Hi guys

Not too sure what to do. It's a bit of a dilemma, however it's a nice one to have.

Should I keep my standard 1199 ABS or trade it in and upgrade it for a used 1199s? I bought my 1199 from my local dealer with 120 miles on the clock for a belter of a price (almost 4k off list price) and it's basically brand new.

Or I keep the 1199 and modify to the same 'S' standard over the years (proper Ohlins suspension, BST' etc) Iv already started the modding with the purchase of a full Termi system.

    Just after opinions etc :)

  2. put proper ohlins on your base and fit BSt wheels for sure

  4. As d8mok says. Especially as you got it at a good price.

  5. I think the mod route is the way forward. I would be able to build the bike to my exact spec. Much more fun that way too :)

Was swaying toward this way of thinking. Just wanted a few opinions. Thanks guys :)

  9. See what you get offered for it and do what's most cost effective.

  10. The reason I know the bike has a big thing.

I think modding the bike over a few years will defo be a bit more cost effective . Although iv still got to weigh things up a bit

  11. Deffo mod yours!!!!!

    1) Ohlins rear TTX shock set up for u

    2) OZ Wheels, BST maybe but is the weight saving of carbon worth £1000 extra when standard forged OZ'a will still save a ton!

    3) engine custom remap.

I'm sure then it will be awesome!

  12. I'd go with that. The stock front forks are fine for the road. Rear shocks a little naff (im quite a big lad)

Haven't seen the OZ wheels yet. I'll time a look. Does anyone know if mag wheels from a 1098 etc would fit?

  13. I didn't put Termignoni's on the list because OBV u already have those?

What about some LED lights off the 's' but in honesty I think that's all I would do!

  14. [IMG] 1098 wheels will fit BUT you will need a spacer kit to make the front work.
OZ make a kit which includes all the necessary parts for about £180.00

Go the Ohlins front FGRT route and the TTX rear and add a Ohlins steering damper to make it better than an S

LED headlights will be a bit of a nightmare and involves a new loom so i`d avoid that route is I was you!

  15. Perfect. I'll go shock next, then some wheels. Once these bits are done, I'll have a look at some forks. War thinking a cart kit would be more cost effective as the FGRT forks are mega monies!!

  16. Plus it will be really special and 'yours'! I was half joking about the LED lights btw but the rear shock is the starting point for me.

  17. Know what you mean about the LEDs. They do look good and I would like them lol.

Iv seen a shock for sale, but after just buying the full system, I'm gonna have to leave it a while or the wife will go mental lol.

  18. what you using bike for russel ? road/race

  19. Will be for road use only. My racing/trackdays are over lol

  20. Only other thing to consider is come resale time. Will a stock S maintain more value than a modded base? Sure you can strip all the bling off but there is a time/cost in that as well.
