748 Odd Cambelt Pulley Questions

  1. Hi All,

I'm building a lump based on a 748R motor. I'd like to fit adjustable timing belt pulleys, whilst quite rare now I'm sure I can find some. However, all the ones I've seen are standard width, obviously the 748R are wider. Presumably this would require changing the rollers too. So, question 1: is anyone aware of a wider set of adjustable pulleys?

Whilst I was looking I found a set of 20T rollers alleging to fit desmoquattro motors. The standard being 18T. In the back of my mind I feel I may have seen this on race bikes but I can find no references, nor in Falloons book. Yet this niggling feeling remains, I even think I've seen a set of oversized cam belt covers to accommodate them. Am I dreaming or was this a thing?

  2. I'll partially answer my own question. Here's a 748RS lump with 20T pulleys.

  3. 748R belts are 22mm wide and the standard belt cover is spaced off, leaving a gap between cover and case. Have a chat with Rich at Louigi Moto, he builds 748R race bikes and may have what you are looking for. Andy
