Anyone fitted the ducati tank pad and if so do you have any pics for the positioning of it. Got one from Santa and not quite sure the correct position for it
Nozzie, I haven't got one immediately to hand, but unless one of the Ducatisti on here sends one over, when I'm back on Saturday I'll take a photo and send it across. It's not difficult!
The radius on the top suggests it is meant to go around the filler cap, however that leaves it high up the tank, more as a decoration. The potential wear is further down the tank, to the rear, so it can be fitted with the bottom edge right on the edge of the tank before it goes vertical to the riders seat. (Well, that is how I have got mine anyway, makes sense to me!) If you need a photo, let me know. Jon.
That is the designed position for it, but any scratches from zips etc will be further down. The dealer fitted mine back down at the curve of the back of the tank. It is the most sensible place to put it, but I am not sure it looks right. It looks better in the proper place as per Martyn's photo, but works better in mine!
Thank's Martyn will give it a go but might need to stick some clear stuff on the lower part to stop scratches as nuttmutts pointed out.
I'm not sure you are ever likely to get a jacket zip that close to the base of the tank on a Multi. Mine is fitted the same as Majvs.
Nozzle, Even though I've got the strap for securing the tank bag between me and the tank in a normal seated position my jacket doesn't get near the tank. Think you'll be okay fitting it in the position in the photo ( unless you've got a largish paunch! :Happy
Right! That's it! Where is the wife's hairdryer? It's coming off and going where it should have been in the first place!!! Why do I get the horrible feeling it has been put there to hide a huge scratch?
Nozzie, the guys have done the biz, so there's no need for any photos from me. Mine's fitted exactly in the same place and manner as the photos from Majvs.... Good luck, take your time and keep cool, it's not difficult to get it right.:Chicken:
