Offers or Advice ...

  1. Hi, I’ve offered to help a friend.
She has a Red W reg Ducati ST4 for sale, 4000 miles only.
For the last 18+ months it has been stood un-used in warmer climes (tragic story), it’s now back in the UK. It is currently looking a little sad for it’s self, though a good dose of TLC would bring it back to mint.
The only visible faults are:- two small cracks on the n/s fairing between the bolts and a scratch on the o/s belly pan both obtained during transportation.
Also the o/s front fork seal looks to have gone.
Anyone got any advice regarding what should or shouldn’t be done after 18+ months just stood?
It was last serviced at 2500 and I believe had the cambelts done.
    Or -
Any reasonable offers to purchase the bike as it stands, considered.
    Cheers.

  2. repeat this thread in 'Bikes for sale' fullchatter, you're bound to get some response. You probably know - either check belts (particularly due to the warmer climes) or change anyway and lubricate bores before trying to start. Bike will get better offers if running and at such low mileage sounds a potential cracker.

  3. Cheers, Chris.

  4. + 1 on Chris's comments but would suggest you get some pics up too!

  5. First rule of Ducati forum, Pictures.

You know all this, belts, battery and new fuel. A little oil down the bores and spin it over with the plugs out for a few seconds. Oil change and press the button.

  6. Cheers. I'm new to site so will try and sort some photos.

Bike is what it is though - sat there ready for some TLC to mint it. All paperwork available with the small amount of history that comes with a genuine 4,000 miles. Panniers also with bike

If I can't sort the photos on to this site I'll email to anyone seriously interested.

I'm still wondering what ball-park figure to expect for it. My ignorant guess is low - £1000 high £1800, does anyone agree? if that's correct, then I reckon it's upper end. Thanks for comments anyway.

  7. Cheers.

Have added another couple of comments to post below

  8. Well, I bought the bike referred to here - (thanks Phil) and I'm just starting to look over it closely to plan the work needed to re-commission it.
I'm needing a plastic welder in the Berkshire area (Plastec?) and a small tank repair (suggestions?) for starters...no doubt more to come...

  9. Cheers Marcus. Hope all goes well.

  10. Its great to see its gone to an enthusiast. I sold my XS650/840cc halco yesterday, took 100 pounds less than I had been offered by a chap who wanted to 'flat track' it, the guy who bought it has three XS's and had done for over 20 years, it sounds daft but, sometimes re-homing a bike is more of a handover to a suitable party than just a sale.
