Ohlins Spring Rates

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by CRYSTALJOHN, Oct 4, 2014.

  1. I have just fitted an Ohlins rear shock to my 749s.

This is what is written on the spring: 1091 21/75

    My weight is aprox' 75kg.

Is this the correct spring for my weight?

  2. That would depend on what your doing with it?
Set the sag / preload and put a cable tie around the damper shaft to measure maximum suspension deflection. Then go from there.

    I'll have a double check at what's under the back of mine. I wouldn't like to commit but I'm. Sure it's a 90nm. /

  3. Yes, the spring is a 160mm long spring. Rated at 75 NM.
Perfect for your weight john. Will be too light for a pillion though

  4. PS if you want to use it for track days you might consider a 90 nm spring.

  5. Heres a chart that may be of some use to you. Rider weight at the top.

  6. Thanks for the chart Ducati2242. I presume that rider weight is what the rider weights when kitted up with leathers and helmet etc?
Looks like the 9 is good for me.

Won't be carrying any pillions on my monoposto
