Hi Does anyone know if ohlins tubes can be refurbished ( scratches and a little rust on outer tube) Appreciated.. Many thanks
Not sure why you would have rust on an alloy part. Scratches will be difficult to remove due to the way the tubes are machined (not a smooth surface) plus they may have penetrated the anodised top layer. Depends on whether a specialist can actually diminish them to a point you are happy with in terms of appearance or perhaps strip and re-anodise them again. No guarantee they will eradicate them completely even if you went to this extent. Might be cheaper if they are badly scratched to source some new/used ones and have KAIS fit them for you.
I have just fitted a very nice set of new forks in my MV. The original uppers had corroded quite badly. It wasn't noticeable till I poked around and a large piece of alloy fell out. Not Ohlins I know but I googled and rang round and tried everything but could not get new uppers. Tried MV dealer got no joy from them. With Ohlins you should have more success getting a new upper but don't waste time trying to find somebody to refurbish them nobody seems to do it Plenty of places to get lower stanchions
