916 Oil Cooler

Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by Olly snow, May 8, 2021.

  1. Once again, is there no aftermarket or cross reference oil coolers available?

really want a new or good condition one, can anyone help?

    Cheers all,

    Olly

  2. have you tried earls performance??

  3. Are you familiar with EBay? it's often a case of sitting tight/studying prices and waiting for one to come up at "the right price". I would say all a bit high at the moment but if you have to have an original then there's a few on at the moment, but all from the same dealer.

You probably know this, but if you don't have to have one exactly the same as original then you're spoilt for choice but adaption to fittings needed.

I’m not too fussed about it being oe just want good quality, it’s the top banjo fitting for the head feeds I was worried about replicating.

  5. I don’t like the idea of paying 200-300 for something that looks like that. I’ve got a knackered one I’d like a new one, least it means I can sell a useless one for 100 quid. Madness

  6. This is where I’m at currently,

  7. A good clean and toothpick/wooden skewer and wifeys tweezers. Or you could buy a comb. I did but preferred wooden skewer(s)

  11. I am afraid not. I have a 748R and managed to snap the aluminium tab off the radiator that fits into the lower fairing. One of my more heavy handed moments. I will however keep my ears open and if I hear of one, I’ll let you know. Andy

  14. I've got this in my stash.
It needs a good clean and probably a respray.

£50 collected from Clanfield, Hants, or £55 posted.

  15. Apologies for sounding stupid, could you show me what you mean?

  16. Here you go:

    P5100002.JPG

I've checked and it's exactly the same as the one on my 2004 M1000ie DS, and 2003 1000SSie DS.
    Stein Dinse claim it fits:
    Ducati 1000 SS i.e.
    Ducati Monster 900 i.e. `02
    Ducati Monster 1000 `03
    Ducati Monster 1000 S `04
    Ducati Monster S2R 1000 `06
    Ducati 1000 Monster S2R , BJ 2006 - 2008
    Ducati 800 Monster S2R , BJ 2005 - 2007

Note the two main fitting lugs are on the bottom not the top as per your current one.

For comparison here's a selection of Ducati Oil coolers from my project stash.
    P5100003.JPG

Top Left is the M1000/1000SS etc one
    Below that a Carbie M900
And bottom Left is I believe ST3/4.
    Top Right is Multistrada 1000.
I think the bottom Right is 996 or 1098, but am probably wrong.

    Naasher.
