Oil filter failure Hyper 796

  1. Hi guys

Am i alone or has anyone had a Ducati Oil filter failure on the road? Luckily I was on the way to my dealer anyway, and noticed what was going on, if not I could have been thrown off my Hyper 796... By the time I got there the rear tyre/wheel was covered in oil..

One lucky, or perhaps not so lucky boy...

  2. Never heard of it, what do you mean by failure though? Puntured, leaking seal? Loose? fell off?

  3. I replaced one of mine in the hot summer......did it correctly (been fitting filters for years).......leaked like a sieve a fw months later in the very cold winter....2010, I think.

It had just gone slack, I assume because it was so cold and everything shrunk.

That's why I only use K & N ones now, so I can wire them up tidily........not like the unsightly effing great jubilee clip method.

  4. It was punctured, yes, but not at the front where a stone could have got to it but on the rear side, just looked like fatigued metal which had split open, only done 2000 miles.. Gen Ducati part.
