Oil Filter Removal Without Loosing Oil?

  1. I have just changed the oil and filter on my hypermotard 1100s but have unfortunately picked up a deep dent in the filter from a stone. Its not leaking yet but is very deep and sharp.
    My question is if I remove the filter to fit another will all the fresh oil drain out of the sump?

  2. No. You'll only loose the oil in the filter and maybe another 100 ml or so.

  3. Thanks for your swift reply.
    Its what I thought but even though I have changed Ducati oil and filters countless times I have always drained the oil before removing the filter

  4. I'm sure you will be remember to oil the rubber seal before adding the new one pre-filled.
