Evening all How much oil would you expect to use on these/how often do you need to top up? mine has dropped about 2mm in the sight glass in about 1000 miles. Thanks
2mm isn't much, variations in ambient temperature could probably do that. When my 916 had a bore/valve guide issue it was using 1L per 1000 miles, now it doesn't need a top up between oil changes.
Done 2.5k miles only this year and used 3 or 4mm by the sight glass levels so topped up once. Sure last year was twice. Keep an eye on it and you’ll soon get an idea of what’s usual. Also make sure if you’re holding the bike on your own the front wheel stays dead straight as it can make quite a difference to where the bike balances and the level I find.
I saw on another thread that to long letting them warm up can result in oil use, but that was on a much newer bike. I normally give her about 5-10minutes by the time I put my leathers on and unlock everything and shut the garage. Maybe I just need to cut that down.
