Nicky Hayden and Andrea Dovizioso and the Ducati team have some grounds for optimism ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez on Sunday. After a disappointing outlook in regards to some of the practice sessions so far in 2013, the two Ducati riders on their Desmosedici GP13 bikes finished seventh and ninth respectively in the overall time scale meaning that they will start in row 3 of the event held on Sunday.

Hayden, the Kentucky born rider who was the 2006 Moto GP Champion, has been suffering with a recurring wrist injury and had minor work done on it last month however he appears to have an air of confidence about him going into the all important race at Jerez.

Similarly, Dovizioso was also happy with the performance and the shift that he put in during the qualifying round.

The qualifying rounds were marred by some high temperatures are crashes however Ducati can look forward to the race itself and have a belief about them going into Sunday's event. While it is by no means a make or break race for the riders of the team in general, the fact is that a good performance by both riders will and should bode well for the rest of the season and give both the racing team and their supporters a great deal more optimism than they had at the beginning of the year.
