Fitted it today, dash showing 11v and dash flashing up red engine warning when try to start and just clicking from bike/starter, engine doesn't turn over. Now, I connected my newly purchased oxford 900 charger and it shows 12.7v?? and quickly rose to 13.3v after just 3minutes. So, Wonder if bought myself a faulty charger or not? Dash showed 11v, Yet charger says 12.7v??
I think you need to allow some time for the battery to 'settle' after attempting starting to get an accurate battery charge state. I would continue to charge the battery for some time , say overnight before attempting to start it again. See how you go then. Easy to jump to conclusions, give your new charger a chance. And of course don't attempt to start with the charger still connected!
Could be worth checking the battery with a voltmeter to find out the real voltage and if it reads full voltage then sounds like a duff connection in the wiring somewhere, not such an uncommon occurrence.
Will let it charge overnight, just thought might got faulty charger after bike saying 11v and charger saying 12.7v. Bike did start the otherday at 11.2v. I did let bike run upto 80 temp before turning off. Yetsreday showed as 11v, so bought this new charger today for it. Last oxford charger I bought off a guy (new unwanted present) lasted 4 days then died = no receipt = no warranty from oxford. Bought this one off ebay dealer so warranty not an issue this time.
