Paddock Stand for a 996

Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by Threeracers, Jul 6, 2012.

  1. I have a Ducati paddock stand from my 1098 which came with two interchangeable pins, neither of which fit my 996. Are these bits still available? I was rather hoping that Ducati would sell me the correct sized pin rather than buy a new stand but a quick call to my dealer suggested this wasn't possible. Before I press him or another dealer I just wondered if anyone on here had bought one?

If not, I will stick mine in the classifieds and buy a new one.

    TIA

  2. They are available......It took me ages to find a source tho.

Everywhere I tried, I drew a blank, no dealers wanted to know.

They are f*cking expensive though, really expensive......a friend with a lathe is probably way more cost effective.

They have to come from Gubellini in Italy, as that's who makes them not Ducati.

I can give you the contact details of the guy who deals with them and who got me mine if you go that way.

  4. Yeah it was around 27 plus vat and I paid for next day delivery.

The total was about £40, if I remember correctly.

  5. Thats not so bad - cheaper than a new one! Could you please let me have the contact and I will order one on Monday?

    Many thanks

  6. Im assuming the 1098 pin is too big for the 996 - as it is for the 848?

And the 848 uses the same diameter pin as a 996? Id offer to tell you the size of the pin for the 848 stand but mine has been turned down by the previous owner and isnt 100% right. Let me know if you get stuck though.

If so, you could take a pin to a local engineering firm and im sure there'll be a biker among the staff who could turn the pin down a bit. Probably only cost you a pint and be quicker than delivery from Italy?

I did something similar a few years back after buying a paddock stand that was slightly bent. A bloke whacked it in a press and sorted it. He only wanted a fiver.

  7. Yup no problem Mark....I'll dig it out n PM you the details.

Yeah it's not expensive in the context of a new Gubelini stand, but it is expensive when you can buy a new third party stand with a pin delivererd for the same price.
