1200 Paint For Shock Spring

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Fergusdog, Aug 11, 2019.

  1. Hi all. Recently got a 2014 Muttley GT and it's in very good order other than a couple of issues. One of them is bugging me and that's there are some rusty bits on the rear shock spring where the protective paint/cover has worn off.
Can you get the matching yellow paint and why does this happen?

    Cheers

  2. Why does it happen? For me, it was after riding down a freshly paved road. I got some sticky tar covered gravel in there and as the spring moved, the gravel took off the coating. It was a cast iron bastard to get out too. Can't help with the paint though, I just left mine as is. The rust hasn't spread 2 years later.

  6. Nah, I think it's because it was submerged in water...like one of those German U Boats they find in the north sea now and then.
