Hello, So in my haste I stripped a down down entirely of all its paint, then I went and etched coated it then forgot about it for a while. so my question is. what goes on there the fuel cap goes into and where the fuel pump assembly slides into? i've seen its some black paint but unsure what exactly? unsure if it also applies to where the fuel cap goes. i assume its something resistant to petrol? i just don't want to accidentally make it too thick and before you know it i have a nightmare closing the filler cap or installing the pump assembly with that nightmare of an oring haha cheers edit: according to this beautiful man, the fuel filler cap can just be painted as normal, so for me its just the fuel flange assembly hole
I’d leave the rim around where the pump fits as raw metal so the seal can get a good seal on the tank. As for paint use a petrol resistant lacquer.
I only mean a very thin strip around where the seal sits. The bare metal will be under the seal so won’t have contact with any air. if you paint right upto the edge then you are relying on the paint to seal to which can cause problems. That’s how I’ve always done my tanks anyway.
fair enough, ill do that thanks. right now am rocking beautiful red fairings that tbf need repair and repaint, and a grey tank haha
