Having now taken the mirrors off my 899 countless times for track days, it really is a complete faff, especially putting them back on with the poxy bullet wiring clip, the rubber grommet, etc.. I've now snapped the bullet clip trying to coerce it into the mirror housing. Anyhow, has anyone come across anything after-market that will tidy all this up? I've in mind some kind of two-part assembly where a base bit is permanently in place on the fairing and wired in, and a mirror stalk that can be clipped on/off with integral wiring pickups. Do I need to invent this myself?
Yes. Let me know when you are finished. RSV4: Undo one bolt. Disconnect easy-to-reach ‘proper’ connector next to dash. Unthread wire. Mirror off. Pani: Undo two bolts. Fish tiny ‘toy’ connector out from behind fairing stay. Find tiny screwdriver. Cuss whilst trying to press connector release tang whilst gently pulling connector ends appart. Unthread wire. Mirror off. The worst thing about the Pani is that when reassembling, you have to reconnect the wires prior to fitting the mirror, leaving it dangling by its wire as you do so. Unless you lot know a better way...?
