Hi guys So I took the bike out for a blast of about 10-15 miles this evening, came home and locked the bike away. Returned to my garage roughly an hour and a half later and was almost knocked for 6 by the smell of petrol, iv never smelt anything like it!! Had a hunt around the bike to see if I could see/smell something, and came across what seemed to be oil on the bottom of the fairng where the 2 lower sides fix together. Almost just under the rad. Just a little further back. Hope the above has makes sence. Has anyone else found any oil in this position ? The bike has coverd 180miles form new.
when u say smell petrol, mines had 2 leaks and its been found the breather pipe under the tank keeps blowing off ,mine last time looked like oil but was petrol coming from the disconnected breather pipe lift your tank and check the y piece where 2 pipes attach, at the front right hand side mines going in for some other warranty work nxt week and the pipe could possibly be kinked or blocked further down the line will b checked nxt week
Yup, that's a thread I started. This does sound different though, mine didn't smell particularly of petrol at the start of it all and it didn't start until I'd put 2k or so on it. Haven't found any oil down there either.
So took the bike for a spin yesterday evening just to see if the leak was still apparent. As soon as I stopped after 10 miles or so the leak started again, just dripping from the underside of the fairing. Took the bike to Pro Twins this morning and had the bike checked over. No moisture could be traced on the engine at all and no leak found. Taken the bike out for a spin this afternoon and it's no longer leaking.. I guess it's going to be one of life's mysteries!! Main thing is it's stopped leaking. Happy days
If you have had the oil changed recently, its possible when they removed the plug, oil can get in the under belly tray beneath the radiator when its drained. Had this with mine.
Bikes only covered just under 200miles so haven't had its first service yet. I'll keep an eye out for that though. Thanks for the tip
