Scuffed my pannier lid today. Ordered a new 'outer cover' (the door/lid) for £37 so not to bothered. Question is, has anyone tried to remove the hinge pins? They're blind so there's no possibility to knock them back the way it went during assembly. I just hope I don't have to destroy the lid to be able to get at the hinge pins...
did you scratch the black part and not the painted cover? think it is best to drill a small hole in the blind end of the hinge and knock the pin out with a punch or something like that
Yep, black part. Was thinking something on the line of drilling (or cutting the lid's hinge out of the way). Have noticed that there are a lot of screws that do more than hold the painted cover, wondering now if the lid is in three parts: 1) painted cover, 2) the part I've scuffed, 3) the lip of the lid that is the hinge, houses the gasket, and forms the latch. If I can take the unpainted cover off separately from the lip that holds the gasket/latch then I won't need to pull the hinge pins...
Spoke to dealer, I'm 99% sure the outer black cover is separate from the lid (explains £37) and the hinges aren't touched, just waiting for the replacement... This new idea from GIVI is brilliant for dozy t**ts like me :Wacky:
