Hi all Can anyone help with the following? I am looking for a new rear shock mounting bolt, but my local Ducati dealer says these can't be ordered from Ducati anymore. They simply don't make them anymore. My old one is worn, resulting in play (MOT advisory). Also, I seem to be missing a spacer/collar for the front wheel (this is for a bike rebuild), which fits around the axle on the RHS, between the fork and the wheel itself. But I cannot find such a part on the Stein Dinse parts diagrams, and the Ducati dealer says it's not on their parts diagrams either. When I stored the parts away while stripping the bike, I can't actually recall seeing such a part. But the front wheel can't be mounted without it. Can anyone confirm whether such a spacer does exist? Here's a photo of my roadworthy bike, this is the spacer showing here (or what appears to be a spacer).
I think you'll find that's not a spacer, but is the wheel spindle itself, which has a step in it. As for the bolt, send me some dimensions, I probably have one around somewhere.
This image illustrates it really well. The larger diameter part of the spindle is far longer than the fork bottom, and the witness marks here even show how much of it is open to the air and how much is clamped inside the fork bottom.
Thanks for the replies gents. When I checked the diagram on Stein Dinse intially, for the SS/SL 91-97, it was showing original part number 60N102589 (10 x 55). I double check against my existing part to make sure, but glad to know I can get a replacement.
I'd the same problem with my current SL project, the wheels were different from stock ones, it had been milled down by 20mm or so, i just purchased a secondhand one from ebay asking for the measurements before purchase.
Having re-read my initial posting, I forgot to mention that it was the LOWER mounting bolt I need. The upper shock mounting bolt is 45mm, but the lower one is definitely 55mm.
Thanks, another thought is inserting a thin collar of some sort around the worn area of the existing bolt.
