For Sale Paso

Discussion in 'Ducati Bikes For Sale' started by PerryL, Sep 22, 2018.

  1. This has been in V-Ten Motorcycles for ages but they are always too busy to get the thing sold. I was in there today and offered to put it on the forum. As a favour and there is nothing in it for me!

They want about £4600 for it and I think that it has about 17100 miles on the clock. V-Ten are straight up and I've been dealing with them for years.

V-Ten are in Thornbury, South Gloucestershire. It anyone wants me to inspect or test for them then give me a shout. You can contact them directly, if you want on 01454 415489. I think that they have an eBay shop as well.

  6. I don't go a bundle on the looks either. V-Ten don't seem to worry about turnover of bikes. The owner was telling me about one bike that they sold after having it in stock for a long time. The same week as selling it they were contacted by somebody who was willing to buy it over the phone and another who was desperate to come and see it.

They often have bikes from my youth like RD250s, KH400s, etc for mad money - and they sell! The market for 'classic' bikes seems to be so crazy that you just can't worry about turnover. V-Ten make a steady income from servicing, MoTs and part sales, so that bike sales are not their main dependency.

My first Ducati was a 900 Darmah SD from years ago (CFO 182V, I think). I sold it to help buy a house. I can't remember the exact figure but I think that I bought it from George White's in Swindon (anybody remember him?) for £2200. I sold it for about £900, I think. A few years ago, I thought it might be fun to get one again and relive my youth. Couldn't find anything less than 10k. At the time they where not considered particularly good as the 900ss was the bike to have. Now the Darmah is a classic - mad.

  7. I had a 907ie for a time and I liked it, but it did get it's fair share of derision because of the looks (although on reflection, it could have been aimed at me ;))

  8. I reckon they will have it for a long time at that price. Not every classic is desirable, and I think the paso definitely falls into the quirky rather than desirable category. The 900SS that followed it is far more desirable, and what they want would be strong money for one of them (IMHO).

  9. I agree, there are classic bikes and there are other bikes which are just old.

  10. The 907 is a better proposition than the 906, by a good margin. They are still available for a bargain price (but just wait a few years). And for the record, I like the looks of Pasos.

  11. I nearly bought one about 28 years ago - took it for a weekend test ride, but it ran like a dog and the non-see-through screen attracted loads of laughs; so I bought a ZZR1100 instead.

  12. I would rather have my eyes put out!

  13. Same with all things... the most desirable (Splitscreen Camper, Mk1 Mini, early 911, Mk1 Escort) gets out of range and so the next thing... (Bay window camper, Mk 2/3 Mini, G50 911, Mk2 Escort) becomes the thing to have... rinse and repeat and before you know it you're paying £15k for a T3 camper and T4 prices are rocketing and mid-80's special edition Minis are now fetching £7-10k in some cases. Same rule applies to guitars, CBS-era Fenders used to be sneered at and now people are paying megabucks for 'em.

Can't afford an RC30/RC45... better get an RC51 or an NC30/NC45... OW-01, OW-02 both now crazy money... LC350 speculation has even forced up prices of those horrific Brazilian RD350R models with the twin lights. RGV250s of all flavours... two-strokes of all flavours for that matter.

All that said, I did manage to buy a pretty decent bevel for under £1200 this year... which I was originally going to just sell on. So it goes to show that bargains are still out there. You just need to be attentive and ready to go when one presents itself. :)

  14. V-Ten reckon the price is right. I don't know (nor care) if that is true. They will of researched it - how, I have no clue.

I think that they just keep stuff rather than drop the price. My guess would be that if they were made a serious offer then they might accept it because they are bored at looking at it everyday. I know that I would be!

  15. If they keep it long enough it’s bound to become the right price.

Poor Paso. Should be loved and enjoyed.
