V4 Pikes Peak Paddock Stand

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Multirider75, Dec 13, 2021.

  1. Is anyone planning on using a paddock stand with their new PP. The Ducati one looks good, but is quite pricey.

I saw Gubellini mentioned on here a few times, as they make the stands for Ducati, but it’s not clear which one is the right one on their website, and whether it comes with any adaptors. I’d like to use it on the SF as well, so it would be handy to find a stand that’ll work on several models of Ducati.

  2. I use the R&G paddock stand on my PP. I also have Harris stands which are really good quality.

You can change the spigot on the SSA stand, so if they are different sizes, which I don’t think they are, you can use the same stand and just change the adapter.

  3. Thanks, that’s good to know.

  4. I use F G Gubellini front and rear stands but not on a PP, on a Panigale R; with a single sided swinging arm. As you say, they make them for Ducati and the only difference is the label:
    https://www.fggubellini.com/en/ .
Those for export to UK are the two piece version because of shipment cost. If you need more information about stands I suggest drop them an email and ask which stand is recommended for a PP: [email protected] .

If you decide to buy direct from Italy, ask them to deduct local VAT and include a statement on the invoice that the items are made in the EU; which should be routine. That will ensure that you are not charged VAT twice, and there should be no import duty under the "rules of origin" agreement between the UK and the EU. This means that orders are UK customs duty exempt if products have been largely produced and manufactured in the EU.

Under the terms of “The EU–UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA)” arrangements, if the consignment value of goods made in EU is less than £135 (€150), VAT is paid in Italy (EU) and there should be no additional customs duty or carrier charge for brokerage, unless they impose a handling charge, but that should be small.

Another option, would be to separate the purchases into parts bought separately, if the consignment cost of each can be kept below the €150 limit.

The links below may help provide some background information on paddock stands from earlier forum discussions:

Also, for single sided swinging arms the paddock stand pin size can usually be changed to match the applicable rear axle diameter.

The better known makes include: Ducati/F G Gubellini, Harris, Gee-Tech, and if money is no object a Pierobon! Other options can be found via the internet if those mentioned are not suitable.

The link below is to a UK Government document on UK/EU VAT arrangements after 1 Jan 21:

Not light reading, but I hope it is useful.
    Good luck.
    Tom.

  6. I've managed to get a very good deal on one from my dealer, seeing as I'm probably buying 2 bikes, so it looks like I'll be getting a Ducati stand after all.
