I know there is already a thread about the MOT implications around removing the pillion foot pegs but my bike is far to young to need MOT any time soon. Im looking for some shorter replacement bolts to fill the holes that were used by the rear foot pegs, just to keep the threads clean, anybody already done this to offer a product?? Thanks.
I took off the pillion footrests from my Monster years ago. I think that I took off the whole carrier and should still have it in my garage. It went through at least 12 mots without anybody saying anything. I had changed the seat as well. It didn't look like it could not take a passenger and that could be why nobody commented.
Number plate bolts are 6mm, footrest bolts are 8mm. I used plastic blanking caps, from Halfords. Pack of 8 for £5 or thereabouts. look great and cheap to replace if lost. Similar to the pic but actually have a threaded stud on the reverse and are almost perfectly flat.
So you're probably not going to be using panniers I take it then! Otherwise it's on and then off again......
I take my pegs off once I get to wherever I’m staying. Can’t stand having them on bike as I never carry pillion. Those little plugs just push in/pull out. Not lost one yet... ... tempting fate.!
if you still need an exhaust bracket with no pegs i make a kit https://iconicparts.uk/shop/ols/products/ducati-multistrada-950-1200-termi-rear-peg-removal-kit
Not required for me Jamie but I do have a suggestion. Rear brake pedal width is an issue(for many) how about making an opposite image of the lever pad but say 15mm wider. With an overhang front and rear. Effectively, a flat plate 6mm thick, grooved serated top, with a single countersunk hole through which a 5mm bolt could go. The plate would be like a cap. Existing pedal top could be drilled and tapped. The opposite image of the plate and front/rear overhang stops any twisting, turning of the plate. Could be araldited if so desired. A piece of piss for a man of your talents!
