Does anyone know if the 1200S grab handles fit on the 1200R? Ducati accessories website suggests not as its not listed as an accessory but this could be just an omission. Wife enjoys riding pillion so handles are a must.

The earlier 1200S - up to 2016 model year - had built-in grab handles. Although frankly, if I was after a pillion capable bike I wouldn't hesitate in buying another Multistrada. I've done some two-up on my 1200S and it's ok, but the R pillion seat is much smaller...
