The Pioneer Run is due to start from Tattenham Corner, Epsom Downs, Surrey at 8.00am on Sunday 24 March. It ends on the Madeira Drive, Brighton, Sussex. I may spectate, if it is not raining too hard. Since only bikes before 1915 are eligible, there will be no Ducati entrants. Anyone else interested? Sunbeam Motor Cycle Club (Sunbeam MCC)
yes Pete, many from here usually do. The Chalet at Cowfold is a good 'on-route' venue which around 5 of us went to last year.
Indeed...as Chris says a good vantage point. Doubt I'll be there tho as we have friends here for the weekend.
Thanks for letting us know about that Pete. I should be able to come and spectate, probably at the Chalet cafe. See you there Chris?
An old and dear friend of mine who always enters a 1912 Triumph in the Pioneer has, I have learned, just acquired an 1898 Leon Bollée tricycle. Unfortunately it's not quite in fit condition to run this year - no doubt next year.
It's a good thing most competitors are built of stern stuff - if my 1995 motorcycle struggles to run at temperatures forecast then what chance has one from 1915..
Why because of a little snow?????? And there was me ready to fit my snow chains to the bike and brave the weather with me flask of Bovril.
I shall still try to make the chalet. It's my normal haunt on a Sunday morn anyway. Hopefully it will be drier.
