1200 Pirelli Trail 2's On The Dvt

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Speedmouse, Jun 7, 2015.

  1. I have a 2014 Multi PP with 2800m and the standard tyres are starting to get pretty worn. My standard go to tyres are Pirelli Rosso Corsa's as fitted to the S1000XR. I am interested in trying the new Trails but other than the odd positive comment by a new DVT owner I cannot find any reviews. Mileage is a factor for me but feedback and sporty riding is more important. I had a base 2010 Multi which I swapped out the tyres to Corsa's and I was happy with them but if the new Trails last longer than Corsa's and have more feel than the originals I would try them. Your thoughts please...

  2. A lot of the guys use Michelin PR4's or Pirelli Angel GT's. I used the PR4's on my PP,good tyre life and grip in all conditions.

Once my tyres are done on my new one, I'll probably go for the PR4's again.

  3. Pete said they were way better than the original scorpions. But I'd still go PR4 at time to change.

  4. Thanks for the input guys. I raced on Pirelli's and have used them ever since. I like the feel of them and the profile, I'm sure the PR4's are excellent tyres but I don't like the profile of the Michelin rear trey and as I say I love Pirelli's. Any DVT owners that can comment on new versus old trails?

  5. Put on Angel GT's after the Scorpion 1's wore out and have found the bike handle's so much better.I believe the GT version runs them as standard.

  6. When you say "trails", what do you mean? Are you talking about Pirelli Scorpions? If so, I have experience of the Scorpion 1 fitted as oem to my 2011 Multistrada, and the Scorpion 2 fitted as oem to my 2015 Multi. I was not happy with the Scorpion 1s, and when I changed to Michelin Pilot Road 3s (as they then were) there were big improvements in grip, stability, and wet-weather performance. Current PR4s are similar, or perhaps slightly better.

I was doubtful about the Scorpion 2s at first, but after 2,500 miles in varied conditions I am forced to admit they are pretty good - grip is fine, even in the wet. The 2s are far better than the 1s. When they wear out, which I don't think will be soon, I shall have to consider the options.

Cannot comment on the Rosso Corsas or Angels, because I have not used them.

  7. Pete, I am referring to the Scorpion Trail 1's and 2's. Thank you for your input. Sounds like the 2's are a big improvement over the 1's so I think it will come down to price when it comes time to fit new tyres.

  8. I can vouch for grip in the dry having followed Pete around quite a bit on the recent trip and it certainly gripped ok under power and brakes from where I was sat :upyeah:
