dealt with quite a few get them from police for mechanical training (taken of kids on council estates lol) engines are pretty bomb proof if looked after (based around honda c ped engine format ) have seen them in 50/110/140 cc 110 seems most popular 10 inch spoke wheels seem crap buckle pretty easy 12 inch a bit better brakes ok if looked after though most kids seem to take them of as not neccesary ? suspension well rear shock probably ok if you are light as a feather or they leak lol front suspension varies from utter rubbish to pretty good but every usd set i have seen leaks if looked at frames vary a bit from made from cheese and welds .........well you can guess but some are quite sturdy check tank for leaks plastics are bolted on and if wrong bolts used punctures tank rendering it usless also check all the gears work as can quite a bit of abuse some are semi auto ie clutchless oh and small wheels and low gearing means they wheely really easy well thats my tuppence worth on pit bikes but as most bikes if you know what your doing with spanners should be ok but will say most of my experiances with pit bike are abused bikes by chavvy 14 year olds so hey get a goodun and well loads of fun
I've messed about on a couple of cheap pit bikes around a friends farm. They're ok for about 30mins but after that, because of rubbish rear suspension and it bottoming out, your arse bone starts to hurt (even worse the next day). One good thing is that because they're small you don't have as far to fall when you come off. Altough I did manage to dislocate my shoulder after landing a wheelie with the handlebars crossed up and it just pulled it straight out (didn't crash though).
