Plate Size.....

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by Wull, Feb 1, 2019.

  1. What size are you guys running?

I’ve always been an advocate of standard shaped plates but prefer just slightly smaller than std.

Standard is 9x7 so I tend to go 8x6 and so on, but how small have you went and not had any issues?

I absolutely hate the plates that are the same shape as car plates, so for example 8x2, those plates are just asking for trouble and people deserve to be pulled for them. I prefer the size that at first glance wouldn’t arouse suspicion.

  2. 7x5 is about as small as I'd go. Used to get away with stupidly small plates (8x2) about a decade ago but those days are long gone.

  3. I use a 9x6.5 looks a bit better and it is still Road legal

  4. Postcard, 36 years on a bike, ignoring the first 2 or 3 dibble has stopped me twice..... £40 in fines..... all bikes still run carbon fibre postcard number plates,
I was hoping this was a food thread.

  12. legislation says two lines..

  13. The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations define the size and shape of number plates for every road vehicle and trailer. Andy

  18. What I can't get my head around is if you look at a motorcycle trade plate which is issued by the DVLA, not only is the plate a lot smaller but the number and letter size is also considerably smaller than a legal plate too.
