  1. Hi!
In a fit of madness (they do seem to becoming more regular with age!) I just purchased a 964 cab (with approx 5k miles on the clock!) It has however stood for 25 years in a barn, the owner died, and the heirs weren't interested. It does need loads of parts, as the original owner was working on the car when he passed, mainly aesthetics at the moment (lots of interior pieces) but I've yet to get stuck into it!

I know there are a few porsche enthusiasts on here..so if anyone can recommend where to source parts from (both new and used) I would appreciate it!
    Cheers
    Grant

Oh..and can anyone recommend a porsche forum as good as a certain ducati one? ;)

  2. 911uk.com is really good .
I wouldn’t rule out Porsche dealer for parts sometimes they are really competitive.Otherwise checkout the sponsors on above forum.
Looks like you have some work on your hands but will be worthwhile getting it sorted
Good luck with the resto .

  4. design911.com
    for parts

  5. Had a 964 and it was great. Am now looking for. 997.1 gt3 so like a bit of pork. the opc network is now offering more support for heritage models through the classic programme so tap up your local opc and introduce yourself. I did in the past also use a chap in or near Wales called Bert gear. He runs a small shop and is very wise about old pork. Also try the German breakers on ebay.

Impact bumpers and 911uk will be useful as will a good local air cooled indy close to you.

  6. Wow that's a pretty epic find. Looks like you have your work cut out but will be great when its running again.
(Excuse the thread hijack OP! )
@RC1 I'm currently torturing myself over house/rent options and my 997.1 GT3 is at least advertised although I'm trying not to sell it! It's from Paragon Porsche and immaculate PORSCHE 911 (997) GT3 2007 Give me a message if you would like to discuss.

  7. I remember my mate had a gorgeous 964 turbo. What a car! He sold it for peanuts. Think they’re doing about £250k now :scream:

Holding onto my turbo in the vain hope a similar price rise will occur. Not likely....

Where do you live OP? Plenty of good indies around.

  8. A friend did the same with a 964 RS in a pink/purple colour.
I’ve worked next door to Strasse porsche independent in Leeds for nearly 20 years, who have a really good reputation. Might be a good contact for bits/info.

  9. Revolution Porsche are there too. Good guys :):upyeah:
    Birstall and Brighouse

  10. Yep I did see your ad pop up. Looks great
I did see it pop up but am heading towards a cs or a comfort with buckets!

  11. All good advice....thanks to all.

I actually live in the South of France, but my family is from Newcastle so spend time between the two. As you can see the 964 is LHD..the intention is to restore and then take back to France (or partially restore here - Newcastle) them finish in France. I find dealing with this kind of thing a lot easier in the UK, and it's not just language it is about the mentality of getting things done...

  12. Cool fair one mate. I was looking for the same as it happens but this one was too good to pass up. For what its worth I was going to put a buy a bucket for Nurburgring trips but didn't need to as the comfort seats are plenty good enough.

  13. Further to last now you have located where you are working from
OPC Newcastle parts are good guys and amenable to discounting for membership of clubs/ forums.
Tom Ferguson specialists Gateshead,Nelson Cars Stockton and Redline Stockton all top notch Porsche people.

  14. ive been keeping a track of sold prices since august. can pm if you want it. doesnt make pretty reading though.

  15. Good luck with the 964, congrats. I love Porsche's. Do it justice!

  16. Holy Moly, the is one genuine barn find:upyeah:. Nice one. I agree with the tips by the others above but also found PCGB really helpful and their forum was (at least a few years ago now, my 996 got sold when we went to HK:() very helpful. PistonHeads is also useful if you avoid the knobs. You've got to do a build thread on here on that one, I reckon there's enough interested in 'em.

  17. Always interested in data mate. I was offered £70k earlier in the week which is similar to what I would end up with once a dealer has taken a cut but couldn't bring myself to let it go!

  18. I used https://www.bestpartstore.co.uk for some consumable parts for my Cayenne. They have a good selection of both OEM and pattern parts. Although it's a .co.uk address they are actually in Germany. Delivery was quick and, by paying an order surcharge of about £4 you can return any or all of the items within 100 days with free shipping.

  19. Hi,
As far as forums go, have a look at www.ddk-online.com
Mainly older longhoods catered for, but a lot of forum members have 964s and impact bumpers etc. Really great bunch that post, almost no arguments or abuse. Set aside a few months for the restoration threads, they are all incredible!
    Cheers
    Dave
