749 Possible Blocked Injector

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by DanielHowden, Aug 21, 2019.

  1. I have a 2004 749, at speed it is fine but when the revs are low, not much more than idle speed the throttle is fluffy and occasionally it stalls.

I bought some injector cleaner that(sliver hook) it is recommended I use once a month. When I dose a tank of fuel it runs better but then the next tank full it's back to being fluffy again.

I am I right in thinking it is an injector problem or am I looking for a different problem?

If it is the injectors is there a cleaner that people have used and could recommend?

    Thanks, Daniel.

  2. When did you change your filter?

  3. as above plus check internal pressurised fuel hoses for splits.

  4. I think cleaners are basically snake oil but happy to be proved wrong, if the injector is blocked it would be best to remove and have cleaned ultrasonically.
Fuel filter is also a good shout

  5. Thanks for the replies. I have only had the bike for a year and I don't know when the fuel filter was last changed.

I'll look at getting that done and see if that changes anything.

    Thanks, Daniel.

  6. I was amazed at what a TPS reset did for my 999.
You can get the kit to do it, very simply, for about 20 quid
