  2. Bodywork and frame seem expensive

  3. Thats why i am asking, normal tank is between £350-£500, just depends if someone wants the paintwork i have i suppose, £800 paint job, so yeah maybe a bit expensive, i have seen sport classic, GT frames advertised for £2k, dont mean they sold for that, this is with the V5?

  4. I asume you think the wheels are expensive too?, again £1800 wheels + pretty much new Pirelli corsa tyres?

  5. I wouldn't break a perfectly good bike. I think you'll be left with a load of bits left over for this bike and probably be a lot worse off than if you sold it for slightly less as a full bike.

  6. Seems a shame to break a lovely looking bike. I haven't done it but I imagine breaking is a pain in the back side, the time involved in stripping, packaging and posting bits surely wouldn't over recover the cost of lowering the price the of the bike.
Best of luck in whatever you decide to do, I'm sure someone out there would love to own a lovely example like that..

  7. I don't think so. FE was letting me know about the sale...

  8. I considered breaking my RSV4 with a knackered engine recently but in reality I was going to struggle to get the 6k I sold it for complete.
I think you might find the same even if you sell the expensive parts you might be left with a lot of parts that take a long time to sell.
    Tough decision, good luck.

  10. A bike will sell if the price is right - as Pete has pointed out previously, putting extras on to suit yourself, sometimes means you can't find a buyer with your taste, and you won't get your money back.

Personally, (and I don't have much in the way of "good taste"), the paint job wouldn't appeal to me - repainted it could look so much better - just my rubbish opinion.

  11. You have a nice bike but politely, you've done what we all have done at least once, spent more on it than it will ever be worth

Depending how hands on you are and if you have the original parts still? I would try and return it back to as original as possible then try and sell the upgrades separately

if you are not that hands on or it is something that you just do not want to do then I would look for a few uk cafe racer/hipster forums which is more likely to be your market. Might also be worth seeing if any on the london bike shops that specialise in that style would do a commission sale for you so it stays in their shop waiting for a buyer. Somewhere like this might be worth talking too?? https://thebikeshed.cc/

As to the parts prices, you've chosen some decent replacement parts but some of the pricing would see a few left with you.

Whatever you do I hope it gets somewhere near what you want so glws

  12. Paint is personal, not sure why you dont like it and what would make it better?, each to there own, I have built several bikes over the years and they have all lost money, i know you do not get back hat you put into it, and i have put far more into it than i am asking for (loosing around £3,500-£4000), this is the second sport classic GT i have owned and have found it is a very particular market, alot of people have never even seen one before, i built it to keep, so spent a lot on it, but circumstances change
