  1. looking to download a map from dynojet onto a pc3 but the laptop doesn’t seem to be picking up the pc3 any tips or help

  2. PCiii USB?

Is it registering on the PC app but saying it cannot communicate?
    Or not registering at all?
Is the PC powered up (eg, a "good" 9V cell attached)?
Have you tried different laptop USB ports?
Are you using USB ports on the laptop or via a hub plugged into the laptop?

If not a USB PC ... good luck, I hate those fecking things!

  3. I think I now know the problem it’s because the laptop is to new for the old system

  4. As Loz said, if it's the USB version are you using the 9V battery to power the PC up? If not, it'll switch off as soon as the fuel pump cuts as that's where it takes it's power from.
If it's not the USB version, it may not be supported any longer much past using windows 98!!

  5. Ah ok I think I get you ( I’m not good at this stuff ) I have the pc3 on the bike I wasn’t using the 9v battery I was just turning on the ignition for power so do I need to disconnect it from the bike and use the 9v battery?

  6. If you are getting power to the PC from the bike, you should see a show of lights on the PC when you switch on the ignition. If this is the case, no need for the 9V battery. If you see no lights, something is wrong. If the bike runs without the PC, then the fault is with the PC - I know because my pre-USB PC failed not too long ago. You could try disconnecting the PC from the bike and attaching the 9V battery module, just to eliminate any doubt.

If you have the old PCiii pre-USB, you'll need a laptop running Win XP or earlier, plus if the laptop has no serial port (most modern ones don't), you'll need a serial cable to USB adaptor, and you'll need to go through the pain of working out which COM port the set-up has decided it is (COM1, COM2, etc). PITA!

If you want complicated, you'll do what I did with my old pre-USB PCiii, I used Win 8.1 with a WinXP Virtual Machine and a serial-to-USB adaptor. To be honest, I was relieved when the PC died, it did my skull in.

  8. You can do it on the bike, but it will need the 9v feed. When you turn the ignition on, the fuel injection system is only energised for a short time, to prime, and then it waits for engine start. This isn’t long enough to upload the map.
