A couple of months ago I brought a rough 2004 M1000. Mainly because I wanted another project, and because I'd fallen for the 1000DS engine in my 1000SS project and wanted a Monster with the same engine. I've spent a lot of time on it and will post some better images soon, but have added amongst other things an ali swingarm and adjustable front forks, as well as giving it a thorough service and clean. It has been a lot of work, and I can't believe some of the abuse I found. It came fitted with high level DP Remus cans, which I don't like the look of, so I've swapped them for low level ones, and added a K&N filter. The airbox lid was already cut wide open. It also came fitted with a Dynojet Powercommander 3 USB, which I wasn't sure of, but left in place until I'd had a chance to ride it. I got it MOT'd a couple of weeks ago, but over the weekend I finally managed to get out on it and did @30 miles on a variety of roads. I am really impressed with the engine, it's an old cliche, but it does pull like a train and is so civilised yet much quicker and stronger feeling than my M900 Carbie was. It has however shown that my 1000SS can probably be a little better considering it has the same engine etc, and the same mods, K&N and DP Remus cans. Now I know that both bikes should go on a Dyno really and get mapped, but as I like to do as much as I can myself on a tight budget I want to have a play with the PC myself first. I've also managed to find a used PC3USB to fit to my 1000SS when I'm happy I know what I'm doing. Now to the real point of this thread after all my meanderings. Considering how well the bike went and feels, I was surprised when I plugged into the PC3 using downloaded Dynojet software that the map says it's the one for a completely standard bike. The only difference I can see between the Std bike map and the one loaded is that somebody has been in and added some fuel at 100% throttle opening over 2250RPM. And I can't remember having it wide open on my test ride. I might download and flash the Dynojet map for a bike with the mods and see what happens. Has anyone played with these things much? Dynojet PC3 map for std bike: Map on the bike that somebody has adjusted:
The PCIII I had on my 748 got binned, most unreliable piece of crap I ever bought. Intermittent cutting out, zero, zilch, nada and then as suddenly as it cut out, it would cut back in again. Never found out why although I should have just packed it of to the manufacturer as it was only a few months old. I was in Spain at the time a threw my toys out so explaining the damage to the case might have been difficult Andy
Thanks Chris. I have all the pre-developed maps, I've downloaded all of them relating to both bikes with various mods just in case they disappear from Dynojets site. I'm interested to hear from anyone that has played with these in detail before. I suppose my goal is to get at least one bike, probably the M1000, as good as I can using the PC3 and my seat of the pants Dyno, then get it on a proper dyno to see how well I did. Nasher
By the look of this one it's a survivor. Like the rest of the bike it was almost unrecognisable under a thick layer of crud, and the wiring was both stretched tight in some places and looped up against the cylinder in another. Nasher.
