I always put the gear on in the same order......... Leather trousers first but I don't do them up. The the boots, right one first. Put kidney belt on, then do up trousers. Stick wallet in left jacket inside pocket; phone in right outside pocket. Put jacket on and join the waist zip Spare keys into left trouser pocket, inhaler in the right one. Do jacket cuffs up Do jacket front up Helmet on but leave the strap Force sunglasses on Do up helmet strap Left glove on first, then the right one Don't know why.........Some of it might stem from when I was racing.....always changed socks for white ones and stood on a towel to do it, ACU licence into left inside pocket, thin wallet into right insdie pocket.
Check state of oil level, tyres, tyre pressures, fuel level, working status of lights (including brake light) & indicators. Check wheels running freely & brakes not binding. Quick check of chain & sprockets, although chain is usually cleaned/lubed & sprockets cleaned after riding the bike whilst the chain is still warm. Also check mirrors are positioned correctly in order to see what's behind me (I appreciate being able to see anything in the mirrors can be a novelty for owners of some Ducatis, according to model). The above doesn't take long & is carried out whilst bike is warming up for 2 or 3 minutes.
My normal ritual is to push the bike out of the garage, get my gear on then a 5 minute sun dance 1m away from the pagoda. Thus I'm warm before setting out in case the sun dance was not heeded by the appropriate god.
All the bike prep done day/night before.. get bike out then put leathers on jump on ride off.. I don't like to be messing around once kitted up:Stop:
