I'm soon going to sell my car......It has a private plate that I shall no longer want or transfer to another vehicle (pointless putting it on the bike, because it only works when looking in a rear view mirror). Do I sell it with the plate which will mean nothing to the new owner and leave it up to him what he does? Do I apply to the DVLA to revert the number back to the original (which I suspect will cost - or will it)? Thanks, AL
It will cost you £105 for the transfer which includes the fee to assign it to the next vehicle and is valid for a year. Past that it's £25 per year to retain ownership but the transfer fee never expires. I have a few on retention so just renew at £25 per year. What do you think the number is worth? If it's £250+ and you think it will sell then take it off. Transfer process normally takes two weeks.
Don't want to retain it, don't want to sell it......Not worth anything. .....Do I just let it go with the car and let the new owner keep it or change it?
Don't tell 'em, Al. You saw how well that worked on the Superleggera thread, folks love that sort of thing!
8 ONK ...........works in a mirror too.......!! But it isn't that either...........It wouldn't mean anything to anyone unless they know my name.
Then just leave it on the car, when you transfer log book if you haven't filled in the retention form it'll just become his.
I always wanted the number plate F1 ANGE, it kinda rolls off the tongue. As to your question arq, if it means nothing to you, you can't be arsed and it's worth peanuts, then I would let it go with the car and let the new owner sort the stuff out.
