Hi Folks, I'm currently on a Versys 650 and am beginning to think about moving on up. I want to go from a bike that's pretty good at everything to one that's fantastic at everything, and the Multistrada seems to fit the bill. I tested the Versys thousand last week and it didn't blow me away as being much better than my bike at anything except comfy motorway miles. So, I'm now considering the Multi and joined here to get a bit of insight into what it does well and whether it really is the four-bikes-in-one that National Geographic channels "MegaFactory - Ducati" programme claimed it to be. So, hello and go ahead and talk me into getting a Multi. I'm very easily persuaded to get new things, as I live by the motto "He who dies with the most stuff, wins". Mark.
Hello, good evening and welcome Well its more 3 1/2...commuter, tourer, fast road and can be used on track but its not a sports bike, just as fast as many
The claim that a Multi is 'four bikes for the price of one' is pitching it a bit high. More like three bikes for the price of two.
Why not just take one for test ride and judge for yourself. Make sure you get an extended ride and do town, motorway and twisties. Then get your wallet out.
Test ride is booked for Sat 29th - it's the Manchester Bike Show next weekend and the contents of Ducati Manchester are off to that. So, two weeks from now I'll probably be weak at the knees and NEED to have that bike. I'm leaning towards the 1200S as it has the SkyHook system, but probably wouldn't notice the difference from the bog-standard 1200 to be honest. Anyway, Sergio sorted me out with the test on a 1200S and gave me the brochure (Ha! - I've seen lower quality coffee table books).
My S touring definitely handles well, just came back from a short blast and some of the lean I can get on this multi is just bonkers
Alright Dad ! Speaking from experience 4 in 1 ? pretty close I'd say.....Got this bike mainly for touring having gone around Europe on an ST I soon realised there were places of interest woodland tracks and muddy lanes my ST just wouldn't want to go. Feel safer on this machine too, I'm definitely a lot quicker in and out of corners than I ever was even in the wet. Sport mode 150hp high...wicked, touring 150hp low still more than enough power though softer, had a race in this mode (cos I didn't have time to change) with a 911, M3, and just yesterday a bmw 1000rr neither got away from me and I was 2 up with a lunch box on the back! Urban 100hp definitely smoother thought traffic, stopping/starting ect... Enduro ?... well.. this is where in my opinion it may just be let down for the more experienced off roader, trial bike it aint but for me it's taken me to places I just wouldn't have attempted with the ST the only thing that lets in down in this dept is the tyres had a couple of "moments" through a stretch of soaking mud but got through none the less.... and yes I was 2 up ya sarcastic gits!`Got it Dec last yr just over 2500 miles already love it
Well, the test ride is in a couple of days, but I don't really think I'm going to need it. Reading reviews and watching YouTube videos has convinced me that the Multi 1200S Touring is the bike for me. I'll still take it out for a spin, just in case there's something really weird about it that turns me off. While I'm out on it, I'll leave Ducati Manchester with a list of requirements/options I want, and my current bike to value for trade-in. If we meet on a price then I'll pull the trigger there and then.
So, Yeah. Went out on a test ride today. Started in Urban mode until the traffic cleared out of the way, then Sport mode. Re-attached arms to shoulder sockets then back to the dealers in Touring mode. Surgically removed the grin and put my lets make a deal face on. Ordered one. Can't wait.
Ducati Manchester. Mark not Dave, but I think I think I'm missing some in-joke here. Newbie. And a bit slow sometimes.
Congratulations on the decision, hope you enjoy the experience. I'm thinking of changing either my RT or F800GS for one next year. S Touring looks the most likely, but I'm concerned about the level of assistance Europe wide. With the Beemer most large towns across Europe have a dealer. Having said that I have never needed one whilst touring. Looking forward to the pics
Stared at 1 in showroom asked questions sat on it googled stuff, went to see bank ordered it took delivery 4 days later, never rode it prior, the best thing I have ever ridden..... Must have had 30 bikes in my time nothing comes close to my Multistrada Hope you enjoy like I have
I'm loving this bike. First service now done so I can be a bit less careful about the revs, but it really doesn't need to go above the 7K I can have for the next 600 miles. Still, it's going to be epic when the whole rev range is available. I'll finally put it Sports mode at that point. It's a gorgeous ride, isn't it!
