I was disturbed by the Russian Bear bombers being described as "jets" in the media. Don't journalists do research? :Stop:
hopefully he will wait to push the button until the missiles have been shifted to wales or better still london.
Not overly concerned. I might be if I was Ukrainian. Russia is twitching because they do not want The EU and Nato up against their back door. Can't blame them for that: western imperialism is not inherently more virtuous than Russian imperialism. But I can't see a wider conflict in it. The oil price crash has exposed the weakness of Russia and Putin is probably doing an Argentina, trying to divert domestic attention away from failures at home.
He is tweaking our noses (or kn*bs) because of the sanctions imposed on Russia by the UK and the US. Amazes me that they had to send Typhoons from Lossiemouth and Coningsby to intercept the Bears....and they didn't reach them until they were just off Bournemouth, yet the Bears had flown down the Irish Sea minutes earlier. Seems a bit of a late reaction or failure to identify early enough IMO. If the Bears had turned inland rather than stuck outside UK airspace, they could have reached London before anyone woke up.
Agree, but many Eastern European countries and the likes of Kasperov believe he is far more dangerous than we anticipate. Michael Portillo pretty much said the same last night.
My wife is always watering down the Port. And the whiskey and the rum.... ...because she knows I would notice if any had gone.
They also sent 2 F15's which passed over bournemouth/ Poole. Must say it was a fantastic sight....followed by a more impressive sound.
Actually there are deep water ports in England. I would have thought Portland and Southampton could accommodate submarine bases for a start, but as I understand it Scottish waters were favoured for the nuclear subs because they provide ready access to the Arctic ocean where Russian vessels patrol and where the perceived threat was greatest.
It's always puzzled me why deep water ports are needed for submarines, when docked they are always halfway out of the water.
But they don't though, do they? They always seem to leave port 'on the surface'......and anyway, you can see them when they are in port.
They only leave on the surface sometimes so that everyone will think that they always know when they head out to sea Sneaky beaky like
