Co's I haven't... but apparently its a racing type that has better cooling properties !??** ... Had the rear brake done during 7500 miles service....funny the clutch and front brake have been replaced with the straw coloured stuff! me smells a rat ! any thoughts! Oh charged me for spark plugs they never fitted too! any thoughts?
Oh don't worry I will ...though there's a lot more to come but I'm having some things check out first....There should be a title forum heading for Service Dealers....The Good The Bad The Ugly!
I've recently had a full service on my 996R, and within two days the clutch fluid in the reservoir was black.
Clutch fluid is contaminated really quickly by the heat of the engine I think? and maybe a bit of blow-back from the slave?
Guys.... this is the same black as when I took it in.....I'd only done 50 miles getting back home! There full of shit...I can't believe the shit they gave me. I was well over charged what I paid at the counter didn't twig at the time because of some previous labour amount they charge me. Gave me the invoice.... it was only when I got home and looked at the invoice it was 250 including the 55 from previous. I'd paid 342! when I rang the following morning they knew straight away and tried telling me the difference was for the spark plugs and couldn't include them on the invoice cos they were showing out of stock!?. Oh really....so I checked. No fucking way are they new plugs. So I checked around some more...rear brake fluid...oil...filter.... So I rang em back ..... "we don't charge for things we don't fit and do" ......really..."So you stock and fit dirty oxidised plugs then!?" ....I'll put you onto our mechanic... "No they've definitely been fitted" ... "The fucking nut heads are oxidised and still got crap around em..no way are they new" ..."The lad did em I'll check"...." Suppose he done the rear brake fluid too! cos that's still black"... "black?" ... "Yeah black"... "It's suppose to be its a racing brake fluid there putting it in all the new bikes now it cools better at higher temp".....????????........and the oil and filter? "That's definitely been done co's I watched him do it....were not in the habit of ripping people off Kel !" ....."Just now again !"... "What !?" ...."Co's un be know to you I changed the oil and filter at around 3000 mile and put in a very distinctive Castrol 1 racing oil which is red in colour and having taken a sample from the bike that's still fucking in!" ...." No ours is red too!" ..."Bullshit... I know what oil you use from the 600 mile service I had a silkolene 10/40 workshop oil which is typical straw colour" Anyway I got refund on the plugs so far...the rest I'm looking into....I've got samples of the oil and I've given em Dano to be sent off to the lab! Waiting for the results back and if proved.... I can say................ BOOK EM DANO !!!
Yeah maybe.....but it was straw colour when it first went in...right!? I'd only done 50 miles coming back remember....tend to use front brake more anyway...and that's still straw colour...they just hadn't done the rear..... so there trying to tell me they put normal looking stuff in the front including clutch res and different black "racing" stuff in the rear!? bullshit...why !? why not in the front then aswell if its that good !...never heard of such shite.... heard of blue stuff...but its still as black as the day in went in to be changed........
All strength to your arm. I hope you will get your local authority Trading Standards involved. Will follow this with interest.
Alright Dave! Wondered when that question would come.... ok.. so I guess I could mention just on the plug issue alone ...I'm upset about it co's its the second bike I've had from them and I thought I'd get looked after. However I've had only issues since owning this bike, ...exhaust had to be replaced co's of the valve sticking, first tried freeing up...then cutting it out.. then finally new one....then gear sensor playing up which was suppose to be fitted before me going to WDW which never was.. No phone call to say parts are in...feel I got to chase up ....though I leave it long enough and when I do ring...oh its been here for a couple of weeks....Well why haven't I had a fucking call then.....you know? It's like they lost interest and anything that's covered under warranty is a pain...its not my fault I got sold a lemon! This issue of course is different and though I got sent a refund invoice in the post on the plugs... with no apology kiss my arse or fuck all....doesn't help preventing me investigating further on the other service issues, apart from taking me for a complete mug with what they were telling me. But until I get the results back and confirmed I feel it maybe slightly unfair to mention at this stage.....though I'll be sorry to do so.... but with suspicions confirmed..... they'll have left me with little choice..... to be continued......................
cant seem to cut and paste the conversation kel so i will just type it out again totally agree you have good cause to take it all the way, i cant imagine you will be using them again so screw them. don't give the dealer name away just yet, good luck check for evidence of spanner marks around rear bleed nipple not conclusive but it's a start. a boiling point test should confirm. just to add we all make mistakes but this seems to have gone a tad further. again good luck.
Cheers Finm... I had a looked no spanner marks...took rubber cover off bleed nipple ...reckon its the first time that's ever been off !...dry as a bone inside too... I know when I've done a change in the passed got it all over the place! Even the front don't look like its been bled properly ...reckon they've just sucked out the black stuff from the res and replaced with new. What you mean boiling test Finm ? and how would I do that? cheers
brake fluid is hygroscopic(absorbs moisture) so over time the boiling point drops.there is a work shop tool for testing the boiling point of the fluid. a pen got mention earlier not sure how that works.
