V4 Quickshifter Issues?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Multirider75, Jun 23, 2023.

  1. Has anyone had any issues with the quickshifter on their V4? I’m away on a trip, and mine occasionally doesn’t work, causing the bike to stutter.

I’m sure it’s not user error, as it’s been working fine, and I’ve had about 20 bikes with quickshifters, so know what I’m doing, but this is rather odd. I was thinking of maybe lowering the gear lever, to get a firmer change, but I don’t recall so many times that it’s not worked properly since getting the bike last year.

  2. I know i make duff changes sometimes when wearing my short boots as the toe box isnt as tall as my dainese boots.
But not really had any other issues on mine.

  3. Size 10’s here. I found the standard position a bit off.

I’ve since fitted the Ducabike gear lever and had a few goes at getting lever angle and peg position right. I think it’s bang on now. Still had one or two stutters but not as many. Last Sunday, 120 miles and only had one, which I think may have been operator error!

  4. Ah ok, I was thinking a different lever would be good. I’ve been keeping an eye on Rizoma and Gilles, but neither do anything for our bikes, which seems odd, given the numbers being sold.

  5. Gilles were meant to be end of Q1.

    I gave up waiting.

  6. They sound worse than Evotech!

  7. SW Motech make one that looks nicely adjustable.

  8. The Ducati QS system has frequently had multiple performance issues IMO, albeit my bike is a 1260S. Absolutely NOT the best, with numerous issues, amongst them being the stuttering one you highlight, as well as clunking up and down the gearbox and on at least two separate occasions, complete loss of power during a change up from 3rd to 4th, which was quite scary. The last problem necessitated a new QS and software update, which stopped that particular issue. That said, changing from 1-3rd is an absolute no-no with the QS as it is as clunky as hell, but from 4th-6th, appears OK. Downshifts are mostly pretty decent TBF.

  9. I’ve had an email from my dealer late last night to say to recalibrate the tyre in the settings menu, as the issue has only started after having the tyre replaced the other day. He said it could also be the chain adjustment. Will try those today.

  10. It’s a really good point. I would do it on the 1260 every month, regardless of tyre changes. Haven’t done it yet on the V4.

It’s a job for this afternoon.

  11. Recalibrated the tyre, problem solved. Only had one or two hesitations over 250 miles today, but they were rider error.

  12. Good point. I had some Metzelers fitted a few weeks ago and have had one or two moments of the rear letting go. I forgot I need to reset the tyre calibration.
