  1. Anyone done anything interesting with one ?

Seems most are used as servers or media centres. I’d like to do something different with it.

  5. I have an older one running duckdns, minidlna, transmission server and mosqitto for the SmartThings stuff. 1TB of external USB storage.

    Thinking of adding Home Assistant.

  9. A young lady biker friend of mine is using one to control a large scale hydroponics system that runs on fish poop for third world countries. (There’s probably more to it than that, but she is very smart, young, rides a R1 AND she’s got boobies, the whole package as they say, I get distracted)

  12. Better & better. She has boobies, young, rides an R1 and may run her own dope business. Some guys have all the luck!

  13. I have two projects in the pipeline, ones a couple of digital photo frames about 24" to 26" I think, one landscape and one portrait.
The other is a smart mirror to go in the hall y the front door.

Being an old git, I am also quite keen on the Retro Pi in an arcade cabinet.

  14. Smart mirror ? (What sort of functionality).

liking some of these suggestions, but rather not have to spend too much on other parts.

  16. Have you tried Home assistant yet, I’ve been looking at it since you mentioned it.
Already using hue lights / harmony hub and have a broadlink rm which does a good job of imitating any remote. All look like they work with home assistant so will give it a go.

  17. I used to work with the Raspberry Pi founder, CEO, creator, a very bright guy.
Have several Pi’s for 3D printers, home automation, cctv and digital signage toys. Very nice devices.

  18. Got a pi3 - mine is running constantly as a pi-hole server. Cuts down on unwanted traffic...
